Halloween Coffee

Meet Halloween Edition, a limited-edition specialty coffee blend from the popular Czech roastery The Naughty Dog. Created as a seasonal release, this unique coffee combines beans from Ethiopia and Kenya, bringing together two distinctive origins to create a sweet, fruity and beautifully balanced cup.

Expect a vibrant flavour profile of blueberries and fruity punch, followed by the rich sweetness of a chocolate cupcake. With a medium roast and balanced acidity, this coffee works beautifully both as filter coffee and espresso.

Two origins, one distinctive cup

The Ethiopian component comes from Hambela in the Guji region, one of Ethiopia's high-altitude coffee-growing areas. The cooler climate at these elevations slows the ripening of the coffee cherries, allowing them to develop higher sugar concentration and pronounced fruitiness. This contributes to the blend's sweet, berry-like character and juicy fruit notes.

The Kenyan component comes from the Mugaya washing station in Kirinyaga, located on the slopes of Mount Kenya. Hundreds of smallholder farmers grow their coffee in the region's rich red volcanic soils. Kirinyaga is one of Kenya's most respected coffee-growing regions, known for producing vibrant coffees with remarkable clarity and acidity.

Naturally complex processing

The two coffees are processed differently, which helps create the blend's distinctive balance.

The Ethiopian coffee is naturally processed, meaning the whole coffee cherries are dried in the sun after harvesting. As the cherries dry, sugars from the fruit gradually influence the beans, resulting in greater sweetness, fuller body and pronounced fruity notes.

The Kenyan coffee is washed, a traditional process in which the coffee cherries are depulped, fermented and thoroughly washed before drying. This produces a cleaner cup with bright acidity and a crisp, refreshing character.

The result is a sweet and fruity specialty coffee with medium acidity, combining juicy berry notes and fruity punch with the comforting richness of chocolate cupcake.
